2019 Update. This project was just an experiment back in 2015. I now see it was badly designed and I don't recommend building it. I should spend more time and correct the files after first prototype but moved to something else and I no longer support this project.
This is custom quadcopter inspired by Rey's Speeder Bike from new Episode 7 Star Wars The Force Awakens trailer.
I designed it in SketchUp and 3d printed first prototype and tested it myself. You can read more about this and other projects on my website http://themodelmaker.net/reys-speeder-quadcopter/
or in this short video showing close ups and work in progress photos here https://youtu.be/79Qyur3cBew
and flying footage here https://youtu.be/nkNbBWaXB5M
The electronics I am using are:
Flight controller CC3d http://goo.gl/Vv9ZV1
Budget Transmitter and receiver http://goo.gl/SL77iS
or more expensive Taranis http://goo.gl/igGYoH
Motors I used here were DYS 2300KV but they are too weak for this weight (740g total). I started with 5inch propellers but it was very jumpy. I replaced them with 6inch 6045 and it flies very well, here is combo with 16A escs: goo.gl/Ty8OUx
The motors didn't get hot, but it is quite an effort for 80W motors.
I may upgrade to SunnySky http://goo.gl/GW2yKa
20A Little Bee ESC like this http://goo.gl/8Pg7ap
I am using 1500A battery http://goo.gl/RGkxT7 but the compartment is big enough for different models.
