Customizable Flower Pot - classic style

Spring is coming and there are lots of plants to get started. Here's a customizable flower pot to help. I'm not sure how well PLA really works as flower pot material (it should be fine), but you don't have to actually put real plants in them. Plastic plants - that would seem to be rather appropriate. Easter eggs might work, too. Jelly beans would also be a good choice for the smaller ones.

[update: Started some catnip seeds in the small beige pot with the vertical walls. I haven't seen any seepage of water through the layers, but have it on a pad, just in case.] [ update: the original catnip seedlings are now 6 weeks old - updated photo.]

[update: added a screen for the bottom of the pot to allow drainage while trying to keep the soil inside. Common practice is to put in a piece of a broken pot to cover the drain hole. Since I didn't think failed prints would be the same, I made a simple screen. See printing instructions for the special settings needed to print it.]

[update 2: Don't let your plant get root-bound. Besides the obvious health-of-your-plant reasons, turns out plant roots really like to get in the grooves between the print layers making the plant more difficult to remove for re-potting. ]

So, why spend time and money printing out something you can easily buy for less than a dollar? That's the wrong question for those of us on Thingiverse who print tons of often useless stuff.

A better question is why would I spend many hours building…
