I have 4 big Ikea Samla dryboxes, but I was looking for a smaller container for my flexible filaments. Ikea has a new food container which is great for standard size spools and the lid is airtight.
The container is stronger than a Samla box and can be put in microwave till 100°C.
Ikea article numbers for the container:
Complete container with lid: 792.767.60
Only 10.6L container: 103.930.64
Only lid: 303.930.63
Usable spool sizes are between 165mmØ - 200mmØ and 70mm width.
You need 8x 608 bearings and 2x 156mm long 8mmØ rods (or threaded m8 rods).
Do not use hammer or anything else to put the bearings in the rollers, you can press the bearings in both sides, otherwise you will damage the bearings and can’t put the rods through.
Use 4mmØ pass through fittings, this way you can put the tube through the fitting into the container, I had some problems in the past using standard fittings with 4mmØ tube hole and 2mmØ pass through hole, the filament was getting hold by the fitting in the container, now you can put the PTFE tube through the fittings and won’t cause any friction.
ADDED: Made a lid for the silica gel container after a request, it was a quick sketch and it is up to you if you want to try.

- If you want to use my design nut with filament guide, tap m6 thread after printing and drill a 6mm hole in the container. See the…
