Plug Cover for 12V 2.1x5.5mm with screw terminal
Have us print this for you
PLA from £6 inc. UK delivery on letter-sized prints. We slice, print on a calibrated Creality K2 / Bambu A1, QC and post.
If you have low voltage 2.1x5.5mm plugs with screw terminals and want to cover the wires / screws, you might find this cover useful.
I bought a bag of these plug adapters online, the size is 12x14mm. The cover just slides over the screw terminal and stays there just from friction (no additional fixture necessary). If you pull with some force, of course it will go off again. If you want to prevent that just use a litte bit of (hot) glue.
I printed it with TPU (flex), with 8% of infill (but as the walls as only 1mm thick, this might be neglegible). No harsh overhangs, so I didn't need any supports to print.
Addition:
Thank you for all your overwhelmingly positive feedback on this little thing! :)
So I have a little add-on for you: If you want to attach your newly covered plug to a wall or other surface, I designed a little clamp that tightly fits the plug cover. Print it in whatever filament and color you want - I used carbon PLA for I like the look of this filament. As the walls are quite thin, you might want to print at low speed.
Update August, 4th:
I am incredibly honored to see that the awesome people at adafruit just featured this design in their #3DThursday blog series: https://blog.adafruit.com/2022/08/04/plug-cover-for-12v-2-1x5-5mm-with-screw-terminal-3dthursday-3dprinting/
