Having already installed the excellent 5ADX re-circulation mod from Printables and used the motherboards only spare fan header – the PLA header, I was looking for an alternative exhaust extraction system so I could finally start printing ABS and ASA safely and keep the smell down.
I didn’t want to use an internal fan as there was no means to power it without hacking into one of the other headers and I wanted to be able to control it independently of anything else.
This lead me to develop this solution.
Basically the internal duct screws to the 4 fan header location in the bottom left of the machine and utilizing m3x8 cap screws which I had left over from the re-circulation mod I was able to pick up all 4 locations using an allen key.

This duct is designed to sit flush to the external cover so all the fumes pass straight from the chamber outside. In order to fit this duct it will be necessary to unscrew the cable tidy’s in the lower left but these are easily rerouted and tucked away without being a hazard.
