Door / Drawer / Cupboard / Tile Spacer

A customizable parametric generator for generating spacers to help with gaps and spacing when hanging doors, fitting drawers, or even laying tiles.

This script creates a spacer for hanging or setting spacing for doors, cupboards, drawers, tiles etc. consisting of an insert (for spacing), side arms for limiting insertion depth and a handle for placing/removing the spacer.

Different thicknesses may be set for the side arms, the handle and the insert.

The thickness of the insert will automatically be engraved on the insert if you tick the "Include Text" box. Set text parameters to suit the spacer dimensions. Text will show as blue on the render but will not be coloured on your print.

You can choose to render only one side arm to suit your requirements (e.g. laying the spacer on the floor) by ticking the "Only One Side Arm" box. This will force the handle thickness to be set the same as the insert thickness.

The spacer will automatically render in the orientation best suited to remove print support requirements for your chosen settings. i.e. If you choose to render both side arms or a tile spacer, the spacer will be rendered to sit on its side on the print plate so no support is required. If you choose to render only one side arm (e.g. for hanging a door) the spacer will be rendered to sit flat on the plate, so no support is required and infill orientation will improve structural strength when you sit a door on the spacer(s).
