This is a simple but functional case for Kynup calipers. As someone who is still pretty new to 3D modeling, this project was more about learning and making something useful than creating a perfect CAD masterpiece.

I probably designed this in the most convoluted way possible: starting with a silhouette drawing made in GIMP, importing it into Fusion 360 to extrude the shape and create a hollow shell, I also used GIMP to create and offset drawing for the top of the box, then using 3D Builder to fine tune everything until it finally worked. Was it the proper workflow? Probably not. Did it get the job done? Absolutely.

If you’re looking for a professionally engineered design from a CAD/CAM expert, you’re definitely in the wrong place. But if you just need a straightforward, functional case for your calipers, this might fit the bill nicely.

Print it, use it, improve it, remix it — and maybe learn from my overly complicated process along the way. One nice upgrade would have the top locking into place.

NOTE: This is a relatively large print. It helps to rotate the print 45 degrees to get the parts to fit on you print plate. This may be obvious for the 3D print jocks out there, but for the novice like myself, I wish I knew sooner.
