About this print
A business card incorporating a working planetary gear mechanism, printed as a single assembly with no fasteners required. The gears turn freely once printed, making the card a functional novelty alongside its use as a contact card. It is commonly used as a conversation piece or to illustrate what 3D printing can produce. PLA suits tight-tolerance prints of this kind, though light finishing on the gear teeth may help the mechanism run more freely.

Got idea from others on this site. Modified parts to increase # of gears and added business card side to put info on.
Tried a thinner set - but it was too flexible. Main gear 'may' require some sanding on outside teeth based on fit and material.
This was printed on an Alaris 30 Polyjet printer. I used a drop of oil on the main gear to get it going - then washed it out. Lettering is extruded cut into surface - used model paint to fill in.
Formatting may have been simplified. These are the independent maker's instructions and fitment claims; Hark Tech has not independently verified them.
Printing Planetary Gear Business Card
For Planetary Gear Business Card we would normally reach for PETG — it is tougher and more heat-resistant than PLA, ideal for parts that take load or live somewhere warm. We set the layer height, wall count, infill and supports to suit the model and how you will use it, and those choices are already priced into your instant quote. Want a specific colour or material? Tell us and we will match it where we can.
