It’s a community file from its original creator, and now and then a file has a fault that only shows up when we print it, such as walls that are too thin or parts that don’t join properly. If that happens we’ll let you know and try to fix the file, which can add a day or two. If we can’t get a good print from it, we’ll refund you in full.

Good to know before you order

TPU has a £11.50 print-order minimum. ABS, ASA, PC, Nylon and PETG-CF have a £46 minimum; PA-CF has a £69 minimum. Delivery is shown separately in your cart.

About this print

A small storage box with an integrated spring mechanism that causes the lid to open automatically when the latch is released. It prints as a single piece with no assembly required, and is commonly used as a novelty container or a demonstration of print-in-place mechanical design. PLA is well suited here, as the spring clearances rely on a stiff, dimensionally stable material to function correctly.

This is my Print in place spring loaded box design! No supports, no assembly, just print and use! ** See it in action here: https://youtu.be/IrT1DaSBeQ4** All clearances are 0.3mm or greater, so most household 3d-printers should have no problems printing it. however, if you suspect you might need a little tuning, I did include a test piece to tune your printer! I created an Instructables about this project going more into detail about the design choices and tricks that I used to make it work, you can find that here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Print-in-Place-Spring-Loaded-Box **Important:** -Use 0.2mm layer height or finer! (this is due to the overhang being designed for it) The print should be positioned on its side as shown in the video during printing.
