Where I print for around Birmingham

As well as Birmingham itself I regularly print for Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, West Bromwich, Dudley and Walsall and the surrounding West Midlands area. Everything ships by Royal Mail Tracked or Parcelforce, so it makes no difference whether you’re in the centre or out in the villages.

What Birmingham customers print

A lot of Birmingham jobs are functional engineering parts, brackets, housings, jigs and replacements that need to take heat or load. Those print in ABS, ASA or PC (polycarbonate) on our enclosed Bambu P2S rather than display-grade PLA. The full scope and example work lives on the main 3D printing page and in the workshop gallery, if what you need isn’t shown, email a description and I’ll tell you if it’s doable.

Why an independent workshop, not a marketplace

Birmingham has plenty of printing options on paper, but most are aggregators that route jobs through shared farms, you never know which machine, operator or country your part came from. Hark Tech is a one-person workshop: every job is printed on a machine I maintain myself, and you talk to the person who pressed start.

Birmingham customers we print for

Most jobs coming in from Birmingham and the wider West Midlands fall into a few buckets: replacement parts people cannot buy any more, prototype housings for small electronics projects, jigs and fixtures for workshops, and one-off bits for cars and bikes. Send us a model or a measurement sketch and we will quote it.

Automotive 3D printing for Birmingham

Automotive work is a big chunk of what we do for the Midlands. Trim clips, dashboard brackets, vent louvres, washer-bottle caps, airbox fittings, classic-car switchgear surrounds, anything that has gone brittle, snapped, or is no longer made. For under-bonnet or hot-engine-bay parts we steer you toward ABS, ASA or PC because PLA will sag in summer heat. Cabin and boot parts are usually fine in PETG.

If you do not have a CAD file, that is normal. Post us the broken part with a few measurements written on paper and we will work from that. We cannot always rebuild a complex shape from a photo alone, so the original, even in pieces, helps a lot.

What it costs

Small parts start around £6. Bigger or more detailed jobs are priced on the actual print time and grams of plastic, so you see a real number before you commit rather than a vague band. Upload an STL or 3MF on the printing page for an instant quote, or email a photo and dimensions if you only have the broken part in front of you.

Turnaround from Basingstoke to Birmingham

Print time depends on the part. A small bracket might be on the bed within a day; a large detailed piece can take longer. Once it is off the printer and packed, tracked post typically reaches Birmingham in a couple of working days. Plan on a few working days end to end for straightforward jobs.

Materials we run

What we will not print

We will not print parts that look like firearm components, items that infringe someone else's copyright, or safety-critical parts where a print failure could hurt somebody (load-bearing structural brackets on a moving vehicle, climbing hardware, that sort of thing). If you are not sure, ask.

Frequently asked questions

How much does 3D printing cost for a small Birmingham job?

Small parts start around £6. Pricing is based on actual print time and grams of plastic, not a flat band, so a tiny clip costs much less than a large housing. Upload your STL or 3MF on the printing page and you get a real quote straight away, no waiting for a sales email.

How long does it take to get a printed part to Birmingham?

It depends on the size and queue, but a typical small job is printed, packed and posted within a few working days. Tracked post from Basingstoke usually reaches Birmingham in a couple of days after it leaves us, so plan on under a week end to end for straightforward parts.

Can you print automotive parts like trim clips and brackets?

Yes. Trim clips, dashboard brackets, vent surrounds, classic-car switchgear, washer-bottle caps and similar parts are bread-and-butter work. For anything that sees engine-bay heat or direct sun we recommend ABS, ASA or PC rather than PLA. Send the broken original and rough dimensions if you do not have a CAD file.

Do I need a 3D model, or can I send you the broken part?

Either works. If you have an STL or 3MF, upload it for an instant quote. If not, post the broken part with a few measurements and we will work from that. Photos alone are harder, the original in your hand on our bench is much more accurate than guessing scale from an image.

Where do I send my part from Birmingham?

Once you place an order we send you the mail-in address by email. We are a working workshop in Basingstoke and we do not list the street address publicly. Tracked post from Birmingham is the simplest option; couriers work too for anything bulky.
