No job too small. A wire that has come off, a loose lead, a dry joint or a broken button, switch or jack does not need a board assessment. Use the fixed-price small soldering service: £30 when we reuse your parts, or £40 with a standard part supplied, tracked return included.
Board diagnostics & fault finding
No power, unexplained shutdowns, intermittent faults, shorts and liquid damage. We trace the fault with current-limited power, thermal inspection, meter and oscilloscope instead of swapping parts at random.
SMD component repair
Blown MOSFETs, shorted capacitors, burned resistors, failed power ICs. Identified, sourced and replaced with hot air or fine-tip iron.
Micro-soldering
Flex cable connectors, fine-pitch ICs, board-to-board connectors and the tiny stuff that needs a microscope and a steady hand rather than a bigger iron.
Connector replacement
USB-C ports, HDMI ports, DC jacks, charge ports, battery connectors and FPC sockets on suitable mail-in devices.
Trace & pad repair
Lifted pads, broken traces, damage from a slipped screwdriver or a previous repair attempt. Jumper wire, careful masking and a board that works again.
BGA reflow
Preheater, profiles for leaded and lead-free, and a free pre-flight check on your specific board before we quote. We’re honest about which platforms are worth it. We don’t currently offer reballing or chip replacement.
TV & monitor boards
Post just the board, not the TV. Power supply boards £49 flat, no fix no fee. Main boards and T-CON boards through the £40 assessment.
Appliance & equipment boards
Dehumidifier, air conditioner, washing machine and other control boards, posted on their own. £35 plus parts: inspected, repaired and bench-tested with power and a scope, 90 days on the workmanship.
Small jobs & wiring
Wires and leads that have come off, broken buttons, tactile and microswitches, jacks and LEDs on controllers, keyboards, pedals and hobby gear. Fixed price from £30.
Through-hole & legacy
Amplifiers, hi-fi, vintage computers, arcade boards, lab and industrial gear. Old-school construction is very much within scope, often the most satisfying work on the bench.
Scope: we take boards from laptops, MacBooks, consoles and controllers (PS5 HDMI ports, Switch charge ports, JoyCon rails), TVs and monitors (the bare board), audio gear, synths and pedals, retro, hobby and industrial equipment. We don’t repair phones or tablets. And if a board is beyond economic repair, we say so at the assessment stage rather than charging you to find out slowly.
PCB diagnostics: how the £40 assessment works
It’s not a fee on top, it’s the first £40 of your repair, paid up front.
Diagnosis you don’t pay twice for
Pay £40 and post the board (or the whole device) to the address we email you. We diagnose the fault on the bench, then send a firm written quote. The £40 comes straight off the repair price.
Nothing chargeable happens without your approval. If the board turns out to be beyond economic repair, we tell you straight, the £40 covers the full diagnosis and a tracked return of your hardware.
What the job involves: most dead boards come down to a shorted or failed component. We hunt it down and replace it when it is a standard, off-the-shelf part. If the fault is in a memory chip, a main processor or another custom chip, those are very hard to source and a replacement board is usually the better option. The £40 pays for finding that out, even when the answer is that it cannot be repaired.

What faults can PCB diagnostics find?
We investigate no-power and intermittent faults, short circuits, liquid or corrosion damage, failed power rails and components, damaged connectors, lifted pads and broken traces. The exact tests depend on the board, but typically combine microscope inspection, current-limited power testing, resistance and diode measurements, thermal fault finding and oscilloscope checks.
Do you do BGA reflow?
Yes, BGA reflow: preheater, hot-air station, microscope, leaded and lead-free profiles, after a free pre-flight check on your specific board. Typical pricing is £80–150, confirmed per job after seeing the board. We don’t currently offer BGA reballing or chip replacement. If your board needs that, we’ll tell you at the assessment stage.
What devices do you take boards from?
Laptops, MacBooks, games consoles and controllers (PS4/PS5 HDMI ports, Switch charge ports, JoyCon rails), TV and monitor boards (posted as the bare board), appliance control boards such as dehumidifiers, air conditioners and washing machines (board only, £35 plus parts), amplifiers and hi-fi, synths, guitar pedals and keyboards, vintage and retro gear, hobby electronics, industrial and lab equipment. We don’t repair phones or tablets.
Is there a warranty?
90 days on the workmanship, the joint, the component we fitted, the trace we repaired. If our work fails in normal use inside 90 days, we put it right at no charge.
How long does it take?
Most boards are diagnosed within 2–3 working days of arriving, and typical turnaround is 5–10 working days from arrival to return dispatch. BGA jobs can run longer; we tell you when we quote.
Do you take small soldering jobs, like a wire that has come off?
Yes, no job is too small. A wire or lead that has come off a board, a dry joint, or a broken button, switch or jack on low-voltage electronics is a fixed-price small soldering job: £30 when the existing parts are reused, £40 when a standard part is supplied, tracked UK return included. No assessment is needed when the fault is already known.
Do you repair TV boards?
Yes, by post as the bare board, not the whole TV. Power supply and backlight driver boards are £49 flat, no fix no fee. Main boards and T-CON boards start with the £40 assessment; most come to £80 to £120 in total including parts and tracked return.
What if the faulty part is a chip you cannot get?
