Fixed prices: £15 credited to the fixed price, with the balance paid when the work is complete. You arrange and pay tracked postage to us; tracked UK return is included. 12-month warranty on the work; you arrange return postage for a claim. Typical turnaround is 5 to 7 working days from arrival. If we find lifted pads, broken traces or other damage beyond the port, we photograph it and quote before doing anything more.

A SkyTrak+ with an intermittent USB-C port
Torn off its mounts, replaced
This SkyTrak+ golf launch monitor would only charge or connect with the cable held in one exact position. Inside, the USB-C socket had been torn off its mounts and several pins were no longer connected to the board. We replaced the socket and photographed every stage of the teardown.
Is it the port, the cable or the battery?
Two minutes with a spare cable can save you a repair.
Rule out the cable first
Try a different cable and a different plug. Check for fluff or grit stopping the plug going fully in. If another cable works, no repair is needed.
Usually the port
It only charges with the cable held at an angle, the cable feels loose or falls out, or the charge light flickers when the cable moves.
Usually the battery
It charges but runs flat far too quickly, only works while plugged in, or the case is bulging. If it is bulging, stop charging it and message us before posting.

What does the £45 small device price cover?

It includes the replacement port, fitting and tracked UK return, with a 12-month warranty on the work. Do you replace micro-USB ports too?
Yes. The £45 small device price covers USB-C or micro-USB ports, and the Xbox One controller micro-USB port is £29.
Is the socket always the cause of a charging fault?
No. Chargers, cables, batteries, power-delivery controllers and other board faults can cause similar symptoms. Try another cable and plug first. We avoid replacing a visually healthy port without confirming the actual fault.
Can you repair torn USB-C pads?
We can assess lifted pads and broken traces from impact or previous work. Send close photos first; additional trace work is quoted from the actual damage before we do anything more.
Who pays postage?
You arrange and pay tracked postage to our workshop. Tracked UK return is included in every fixed price and in the agreed quote for other repairs. If you decline after a £40 assessment, that assessment covers tracked return.
How long does it take, and is there a warranty?
Typical turnaround is 5 to 7 working days from arrival. Parts are ordered per job, so we tell you if a part adds time. Fixed-price port repairs come with a 12-month warranty on the work.
Do you repair phones, tablets or earbuds?
No. We do not repair phones, tablets, earbuds or earbud charging cases. E-readers such as Kindle, Kobo and reMarkable are covered by the £45 small device price.
