Charging faults on the Switch are nearly always one of three things: the port, the charging IC, or a fuse. We diagnose which, rather than guess.
Won’t charge at all
Plugged in, nothing happens, no charge icon. Could be the port, could be the charging IC, could be a fuse. The point of a proper diagnosis is finding out before parts get swapped.
Only charges at an angle
You have to prop the cable just so, or hold it in place. Classic worn or cracked USB-C port: the solder joints or the connector tongue have given up.
Connector feels loose
The plug wobbles in the socket, or the tongue inside the port looks bent or damaged. The port needs replacing before it takes traces on the board with it.
Completely dead
No charge light, black screen, nothing on the dock. Often a blown fuse or a failed charging IC (the M92T36 family), both board-level repairs we do every week.
Won’t wake from sleep
Went to sleep one day and never came back, and no combination of buttons helps. Usually a power-delivery fault on the board rather than a software problem.
Died on a cheap dock or cable
Some third-party docks and cables feed the Switch the wrong voltage and kill the charging IC. If yours died the moment it was docked, this is the likely story, and it’s fixable.
Joy-Con drift? Don’t pay us, or anyone else
We could sell this repair. We deliberately don’t, because there’s a better option and you deserve to know about it.
Nintendo fixes drifting Joy-Con free in the UK
If your Joy-Con sticks drift on their own, Nintendo repairs them free of charge in the UK, even out of warranty. That has been their policy for years, and it covers exactly the fault everyone has. Paying a repair shop, including us, for something the manufacturer does free would be a waste of your money.
Go to Nintendo’s UK support site, set up a repair, and post the Joy-Con to them. The console itself doesn’t need to go. And when the fault is on the console, the charging port, a dead board, that’s where we come in.

Not sure which to book? If it shows any sign of life, book the £35 port swap. If it’s completely dead, book the £45 repair. Either way we diagnose properly on arrival, and if a port booking turns out to be a deeper board fault we contact you with photos before any chargeable work. You only ever pay the difference, never both prices. If you’d rather not proceed we return it and only the deposit is used, which covers the return postage.

Switch Lite
Same £35 port price, same £45 board price. The Lite’s board is more compact but the charging faults are the same family, and so is the fix.
Switch OLED
Fully covered at the same prices. A dead OLED model is especially worth reviving, they still fetch real money working and nothing if they don’t.
Failed eBay port swaps
Cheap port swaps often fail because the port needs proper hot-air work and the shield reflowed, not a squirt of glue. We see these regularly and we can usually put them right.
Your saves survive
Switch saves live on the console, not the game card, and without a paid cloud backup they exist nowhere else. Reviving a dead console is usually the only way to get years of progress back.

Common questions
How much does a Nintendo Switch charging port repair cost?
£35 flat, and that is the finished price: the new USB-C port fitted with proper hot-air rework, the shield reflowed, a full charge test and tracked return postage. You book with a £15 deposit and pay the balance when the repair is done, before we post it back. If inspection finds damage beyond the port itself, we photograph it and quote before any chargeable work.
Is the price the same for the Switch Lite and Switch OLED?
Yes. The charging port replacement is £35 whether it’s an original Switch, a Switch Lite or a Switch OLED, and the no-power board repair is £45 across all three. The boards differ inside, but the work and the price are the same from your side.
How do I know if it’s the port or a board fault?
You usually can’t tell from the outside, and you don’t need to. If the console still shows some sign of life (charges at an angle, connector feels loose), book the £35 port swap. If it’s completely dead with no charge light, book the £45 no-power repair. Either way we diagnose properly on arrival, and if a port booking turns out to be a deeper board fault we contact you with photos first. You only ever pay the difference, typically £10 to £15 more, never both prices.
What does no fix no fee mean on the £45 repair?
Exactly what it says. Dead-console repairs are genuine board-level diagnosis, and occasionally a board is beyond economic repair. If we can’t revive your Switch, you pay nothing beyond the £15 deposit, which covers posting it back to you tracked. You’re never charged for a repair that didn’t work.
Will my saves and games survive the repair?
Yes. We work on the charging circuitry, not the storage, so saves, games and accounts are untouched. Worth knowing: Switch saves live on the console itself, not on the game card, and unless you pay for Nintendo Switch Online cloud backup they exist nowhere else. A dead Switch with years of progress on it is usually well worth reviving rather than replacing.
How long does a Switch repair take?
Charging port swaps are usually on their way back within 2–3 working days of arriving. No-power board repairs typically take 3–5 working days because of the diagnosis and post-repair testing. If anything pushes the timescale out, we tell you rather than go quiet.
Is there a warranty?
12-month warranty on the repair, on both the £35 port replacement and the £45 board repair. If the work we did fails in normal use within 12 months, we put it right free, including the postage.
What should I send, and how should I pack it?
Just the console. No dock, no Joy-Con, no games and no charger are needed for charging work, and leaving them at home keeps the parcel small and your kit safe. Wrap the console in bubble wrap, box it with padding on all sides, and post it to the address we email you when you book.
