Sound like your Switch?
Charging faults on the Switch are nearly always one of three things: the port, the charging IC, or a fuse. We diagnose which, rather than guess.
Won’t charge at all
Plugged in, nothing happens, no charge icon. Could be the port, could be the charging IC, could be a fuse. The point of a proper diagnosis is finding out before parts get swapped.
Only charges at an angle
You have to prop the cable just so, or hold it in place. Classic worn or cracked USB-C port: the solder joints or the connector tongue have given up.
Connector feels loose
The plug wobbles in the socket, or the tongue inside the port looks bent or damaged. The port needs replacing before it takes traces on the board with it.
Completely dead
No charge light, black screen, nothing on the dock. Often a blown fuse or a failed charging IC (the M92T36 family), both board-level repairs we do every week.
Won’t wake from sleep
Went to sleep one day and never came back, and no combination of buttons helps. Usually a power-delivery fault on the board rather than a software problem.
Died on a cheap dock or cable
Some third-party docks and cables feed the Switch the wrong voltage and kill the charging IC. If yours died the moment it was docked, this is the likely story, and it’s fixable.
Joy-Con drift? Check Nintendo’s free option first
Nintendo may repair eligible drifting Joy-Con free. If that route is not available, or you want a Hall Effect upgrade, we can help.
Use the best-value route for you
Start with Nintendo’s UK support site to check whether your Joy-Con qualifies for free drift repair. That is usually the most economical option.
For ineligible controllers or a longer-lasting upgrade, our Hall Effect Joy-Con repair is £35 for one or £55 for a pair, including tracked UK return postage.
- Check eligibility on Nintendo’s UK support site
- Use Nintendo’s free route if your Joy-Con qualifies
- Otherwise choose our Hall Effect upgrade: £35 one / £55 pair
- For console charging or power faults, use the services below
Fixed-price port repair or board assessment
The £75 port repair books with a £15 deposit. The no-power route is a £40 assessment paid in full and credited if you approve the repair. Tracked return postage is included in both prices.

- New USB-C port fitted with proper hot-air rework
- Shield reflowed, pads cleaned, no glue bodges
- Board inspected under magnification while it’s open
- Full charge test before it’s reassembled

No-power board assessment
Dead console, no charge light, won’t wake. Board-level diagnosis followed by a clear repair quote.

Every Switch, and the botched repairs too
The same microscope, hot air and board-level tools as our soldering bench, pointed at your console.
Nintendo Switch
The original 2017 console and the 2019 revision. The most common patient on the bench, and by now the ports have had years of docking and undocking to wear them out.
Switch Lite
The same £75 port price applies. Completely dead Switch Lite consoles start with the same £40 redeemable board assessment.
Switch OLED
Fully covered at the same prices. A dead OLED model is especially worth reviving, they still fetch real money working and nothing if they don’t.
Failed eBay port swaps
Cheap port swaps often fail because the port needs proper hot-air work and the shield reflowed, not a squirt of glue. We see these regularly and we can usually put them right.
Your saves survive
Switch saves live on the console, not the game card, and without a paid cloud backup they exist nowhere else. Reviving a dead console is usually the only way to get years of progress back.
Something else wrong?
Game card slot, fan, cracked shell? Ask us, photo quotes are free. Joy-Con drift we’ll always point at Nintendo’s free repair first.
What the flat price includes
A port swap done badly fails in weeks. This is what the price buys.
| Proper hot-air rework | The old port comes off with controlled hot air and the new one goes on to cleaned, tinned pads. No glue, no soldering-iron-only shortcuts that fail in weeks |
| Shield reflowed | The metal shield over the port is reflowed properly so the port has its mechanical strength back, this is the step cheap repairs skip |
| Board inspection | Charging IC, fuses and surrounding components checked under magnification while the console is open, faults found are photographed and quoted first |
| Diagnosis, not guesswork | Charging faults can be the port, the IC or a fuse. We find which before anything is replaced, so you don’t pay for parts that weren’t the problem |
| Data untouched | Saves, games and accounts stay exactly as they were, we work on the charging circuitry, not the storage |
| Charge testing | Charged, discharged and rechecked before reassembly, then a final test before it goes back in the box |
| Return post & warranty | Tracked return postage included, and a 12-month warranty on the repair |
No-power faults begin with the £40 board assessment. It covers diagnosis and tracked return if you decline the quote or the console is beyond economic repair, and is credited in full if you approve the repair.

Common questions
How much does a Nintendo Switch charging port repair cost?
£75 flat for Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED. That includes the new USB-C port, proper hot-air rework, a full charge test and tracked return postage. You book with a £15 deposit and pay the balance when the repair is complete.
Is the price the same for the Switch Lite and Switch OLED?
Yes. Charging port replacement is £75 for an original Switch, Switch Lite or Switch OLED. A completely dead console starts with a £40 board-level assessment, which is fully credited against an approved repair quote.
How do I know if it’s the port or a board fault?
A loose connector or a console that only charges at an angle usually points to the £75 port replacement. A completely dead console can have several board-level causes, so book the £40 redeemable assessment. We diagnose it and quote before carrying out further work.
How does the £40 no-power assessment work?
The £40 covers board-level diagnosis and tracked return if you decline the repair. If you approve our quote, the full £40 is credited against the repair price. We don’t carry out additional chargeable work without your approval.
Will my saves and games survive the repair?
Yes. We work on the charging circuitry, not the storage, so saves, games and accounts are untouched. Worth knowing: Switch saves live on the console itself, not on the game card, and unless you pay for Nintendo Switch Online cloud backup they exist nowhere else. A dead Switch with years of progress on it is usually well worth reviving rather than replacing.
How long does a Switch repair take?
Charging port swaps are usually on their way back within 2–3 working days of arriving. No-power board repairs typically take 3–5 working days because of the diagnosis and post-repair testing. If anything pushes the timescale out, we tell you rather than go quiet.
Is there a warranty?
The £75 charging port replacement has a 12-month warranty. Board-level repairs are quoted after assessment and normally include a 90-day warranty, confirmed with the quote.
What should I send, and how should I pack it?
Just the console. No dock, no Joy-Con, no games and no charger are needed for charging work, and leaving them at home keeps the parcel small and your kit safe. Wrap the console in bubble wrap, box it with padding on all sides, and post it to the address we email you when you book.
