Is it the port, the cable or the battery?

Rule out the cable first

  • Try a different cable and a different plug
  • If you have only tried a USB-C to USB-C cable, try a USB-A to USB-C cable as well
  • If another cable works, no repair is needed

Usually the charging port

  • It only charges with the cable held at an angle
  • The cable feels loose or drops out of the socket
  • The charge light flickers or goes out when the cable moves

Usually the battery

  • It charges, but the battery runs down much faster than it used to
  • It switches off while still showing charge left
  • It will only power on while plugged in

Not sure which it is? Send a photo and a short description on WhatsApp and we will point you to the right repair. The £45 price covers the charging port. If the battery is the fault, we quote before any extra work.

Headphones we repair

The fixed price covers the charging port on over-ear and on-ear wireless headphones, including:

We do not repair earbuds or earbud charging cases, and we do not repair phones or tablets. Headphones not listed? Send the make and model on WhatsApp and we will confirm it fits the £45 price first.

What’s included

The honest bit about opening headphones

Getting to the port usually means removing an ear pad and releasing plastic clips that were never designed to be opened often. We work slowly and use plastic tools, but on older headphones the clips can be brittle and may show small marks afterwards.

On some boards the pads under the port can lift when the old port comes off. If that happens, or we find other damage beyond the port, we photograph it and quote before doing anything more.

Small-device USB-C work from our bench

A recent example: a SkyTrak+ golf launch monitor whose USB-C port only worked with the cable held in one exact position. Inside, the socket had been torn off its mounts, so we replaced it and photographed every stage. Read the SkyTrak+ teardown and USB-C port repair.

A small crater beside the USB-C pads where one of the socket’s anchor legs tore out of the board

Frequently asked questions

How much does a headphone charging port repair cost?

£45 fixed, including the replacement port, fitting and tracked UK return. £15 books it and is credited to the price. Damage beyond the port is quoted before we do anything more.

Which headphones do you repair?

Over-ear and on-ear wireless headphones, including the Sony WH-1000XM3, WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5, Bose QuietComfort 45, QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and 700, Sennheiser Momentum 3 and 4, and Beats Studio Pro. Older micro-USB headphones are covered at the same price.

Do you repair earbuds or earbud charging cases?

No. This service is for over-ear and on-ear headphones only. We do not repair earbuds, earbud charging cases, phones or tablets.

Will the repair mark my headphones?

We open them carefully with plastic tools. On older headphones the plastic clips can be brittle and may show small marks afterwards. If we see damage beyond the port, we photograph it and quote before doing anything more.

How long does it take, and is there a warranty?

5 to 7 working days from arrival, and we tell you if a part adds time. Every repair has a 12-month warranty on the work.
