Appliance board repair by post, £35 + parts
Dehumidifier, air conditioner, washing machine or other equipment stopped working and the manufacturer won’t repair it? Take out the control board and post just the board. We inspect it for failed components, replace what we can, then power it on the bench and watch its signals on an oscilloscope to check it’s trying to work. £35 plus parts at cost, tracked return included.
Board repair pricing
Book with a £15 deposit. The balance, plus any parts, is paid before the board is posted back. You arrange and pay postage to us.
In short: Hark Tech repairs appliance and equipment circuit boards by post from anywhere in the UK, including dehumidifier, air conditioner and washing machine control boards. You post just the board. £35 plus parts at cost covers component-level inspection, repair and a powered bench test with an oscilloscope, with tracked return included. The board can’t be tested inside your appliance, so the warranty is 90 days on the workmanship only, and if nothing can be fixed you pay the £35 only. Prices checked 21 October 2026.
Boards we repair by post
Brand rarely matters at component level: the same capacitors, fuses, regulators and relays turn up everywhere.
Dehumidifiers
Control and power boards from Meaco, Ebac, De’Longhi, Electriq, Pro Breeze and others. Dead units, no display, fan or compressor not starting.
Air conditioners and heaters
Portable and split unit indoor boards, fan heater and panel heater controllers. Dead, clicking relays or no response to buttons.
Washing machines, dishwashers, dryers
Control and display boards that won’t power up, fail to drive a motor, pump or heater relay, or show nothing at all.
Fridges, freezers and coffee machines
Control boards and small power supplies for compressor, fan and heater control.
Gates, garage doors and pumps
Motor controller boards, receivers and pump controllers with blown fuses, failed relays or dead power stages.
Other equipment boards
Hobby, workshop and light industrial controller boards. Not sure? Send photos and we’ll tell you before you book.
What we can and can’t test
Your appliance stays at home, so the board is tested on its own. That keeps the price down, and it’s why the warranty covers our work rather than the whole machine.
What the bench test shows
After the failed components are replaced, the board is powered from a bench supply and its signal lines are watched on an oscilloscope: supply rails come up, the microcontroller’s clock runs, relay and motor drive outputs switch, and display or communication lines show activity. That tells us the board is alive and trying to work.
What it can’t show is how the board behaves with your sensors, motors and wiring connected. If the fault is elsewhere in the appliance, or inside a programmed chip, we tell you what we found.
- Book online with a £15 deposit and we email the postal address
- Unplug, wait 30 minutes, photograph the connectors, remove the board
- Post the board to us tracked, in a bag with bubble wrap
- Inspected, repaired and bench-tested in 5–7 working days, then posted back tracked
What the £35 includes
Component-level repair: the parts that failed come out and new parts go in.
| Inspection | Board checked under magnification: burnt or bulging parts, cracked joints, corrosion, blown fuses; key components measured |
| Repair | Failed capacitors, fuses, diodes, regulators, relays and similar standard parts replaced; cracked joints reflowed |
| Bench test | Powered from a bench supply, rails measured, clock and drive lines checked on an oscilloscope |
| Parts | Charged at cost on top. Anything unusual or expensive is checked with you before it is fitted |
| No fix | £35 only, board returned with a short note of what was checked and found |
| Return postage | Tracked UK return included |
90 days on the workmanship: if a part we fitted or a joint we made fails in normal use, we put it right free. Not covered: the appliance itself, faults elsewhere in it, and programmed or BGA chips (no reballing or chip replacement).
Common questions
Can you repair a dehumidifier circuit board by post?
Yes. Unplug the dehumidifier, take out the control board and post just the board to Hark Tech in Basingstoke. We inspect it for failed components, replace what has failed, then power it on the bench and check its signals on an oscilloscope. It costs £35 plus replacement parts at cost, with tracked UK return postage included. Meaco, Ebac, De'Longhi, Electriq, Pro Breeze and other brands use the same kinds of components, so brand rarely matters.
Why do I post the board and not the whole appliance?
Because a dehumidifier, air conditioner or washing machine is heavy and expensive to courier, and almost every electronic fault lives on the control or power board. The board is a flat piece of electronics that posts safely in a small box for a few pounds.
Can you fully test the board?
Not in the appliance itself, because we do not have your machine on the bench. We power the board from a bench supply and watch its supply rails, clock, relay and motor drive lines and communication lines on an oscilloscope to see that it starts up and is trying to work. That is why this service is cheaper than our assessed board repairs and why the warranty covers our workmanship rather than the appliance working.
How much does it cost?
£35 covers the inspection, the repair work and the powered bench test, with tracked UK return postage included. Replacement parts are charged at cost on top. Common parts such as capacitors, fuses, diodes, regulators and relays usually cost a few pounds; anything unusual or expensive is checked with you before it is fitted. You book with a £15 deposit and pay the balance before the board is posted back.
What if you find nothing wrong or it can't be fixed?
You pay the £35 only, and the board comes back by tracked post with a short written note of what was checked and what we found. Faults inside a microcontroller, a programmed memory chip or a BGA chip cannot be repaired at component level, and we tell you if that is the case.
Is there a warranty?
90 days on the workmanship: if a part we fitted or a joint we made fails in normal use, we put it right free. Because the board cannot be tested in your appliance, the warranty does not cover the appliance working or other faults elsewhere in the machine.
How do I remove and post the board safely?
Unplug the appliance and leave it for 30 minutes before opening it, because power board capacitors can hold a charge. Photograph every connector before you unplug it, handle the board by its edges, then pack it in an anti-static or clean plastic bag with bubble wrap in a small box. We email the postal address as soon as you book. You arrange and pay the postage to us.
Which boards don't you take?
Gas boiler and other gas appliance safety control boards, medical devices, mobile phones and tablets. We also do not post back whole appliances: send the board on its own.
