A known, visible fault on low-voltage electronics with accessible, undamaged solder points: a wire or lead that has come off, a dry or cracked joint on a switch, jack or connector, or a standard button, tactile switch, microswitch, slide or toggle switch, through-hole DC or 3.5 mm jack, LED or USB lead that needs replacing. It does not include fault finding, damaged PCB pads or traces, USB-C or HDMI socket replacement, mains wiring or proprietary cable assemblies.
Choose £30 if the job reuses what is already there, such as reattaching a wire or resoldering a joint. Choose £40 if a standard part needs to be supplied and fitted, such as a new button, switch, jack, LED or USB lead. If you are unsure, send photos first and we will tell you which one fits.
Tell us in the booking notes or send photos first. Additional items on the same board are quoted from the photos before any work starts, so you always know the total.
The £15 books the workshop slot and is part of the £30 or £40 total, so you pay the remaining £15 or £25 after the work is done. You arrange and pay tracked postage to us; tracked UK return postage is included in the total.
We stop and contact you with photos before doing anything outside the booked work. More involved board faults use the separate £40 board repair assessment rather than being added silently to this fixed-price booking. If the fixed-price job cannot be completed, the £15 covers the booked slot and tracked return.
The soldering workmanship is covered for 90 days. Damage caused by pulling, impact, liquid, misuse or a separate fault is not covered.
