How the K2 Companion mobile app handles your data. Last updated: 16 June 2026.
This policy explains how the K2 Companion Android app (the “App”), published by Hark Tech, handles your information. It is separate from the Hark Tech website privacy policy. Hark Tech is a sole trader business operated by Grant Harkness, based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, United Kingdom. Contact: repairs@harktech.co.uk.
K2 Companion has no account and no sign-up. It does not collect, transmit to us, or sell your personal data. Everything the App needs is stored on your own device, and the App communicates directly with your own 3D printer. There is no advertising and no tracking.
To do its job, the App saves the following on your device only:
This data lives on your device, is never sent to Hark Tech, and is removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.
On your home network, the App connects directly to your Creality K2 to read its status and send your control commands (via the printer’s Moonraker API, its Creality service, SSH, and its built-in camera). This traffic stays on your local network and does not pass through Hark Tech.
If you choose to enable remote access, the App can reach your printer from outside your home through a relay server that Hark Tech operates (relay.harktech.co.uk). The relay is an authenticated pass-through tunnel: it forwards your printer’s status and your control commands between your phone and your printer.
Remote access is entirely optional — you can use the App on your local network without ever enabling it.
If you turn on print notifications, the App runs a background service that watches your printer’s status so it can alert you when a print completes, fails, or pauses. This monitoring runs on your device (and over the relay if remote access is enabled); the events are not sent to Hark Tech.
The App contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not use an advertising ID.
We do not sell or share your personal data, and the App does not send your data to third parties for their own use. The only third party involved in optional remote access is Cloudflare, which routes the encrypted relay connection and acts as a data processor.
On-device secrets (such as your printer password) are held in Android’s encrypted secure storage. Remote-access connections are authenticated with per-device tokens and encrypted using TLS.
The App is intended for adults (18 and over) who own a compatible 3D printer. It is not directed at children.
Because the App holds your data only on your device, you remain in control of it: clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App deletes it. As Hark Tech does not hold App user data on its servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you may contact us at any time with a privacy question or request.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent version.
