Your laptop is back with a brand new battery fitted and fully tested. A few simple steps will get the best from it.
Every battery we fit is bench tested and charge cycled before it leaves the workshop, so it is ready to use straight away. The one thing worth doing in the first day or two is letting the battery meter learn the new cell. Here is what to do, and what is normal while it settles.
Charge the laptop all the way to 100 percent, then use it normally until it gets down to around 5 to 10 percent, then charge it back to 100 percent without interrupting. This single cycle lets the battery meter learn the real capacity of the new cell, so the percentage and the time remaining read accurately from then on.
It does not need to be done perfectly or all in one sitting. The aim is simply one good charge, one good run down, and one good charge back up.
For the first cycle or two the battery percentage or the time remaining can jump around, or drop more suddenly than you would expect. This is completely normal while the meter calibrates to the new battery, and it is not a fault.
Modern laptop batteries are lithium-ion. Unlike the old nickel batteries from years ago, the cell itself does not need conditioning. What needs to settle is the small gauge chip that reports the charge level, and that happens on its own once you have run a full charge and discharge.

If your screen is cracked, flickering, or showing dead pixels, we replace laptop screens by post. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, Acer and MacBooks all come through the workshop regularly.
Screen replacement cost varies by model and panel type. A standard 1080p HP or Dell screen typically costs a fraction of even a budget refurbished machine. We quote before any work starts, you decide whether to go ahead.
Typically a few working days from when your laptop arrives. We run a full display test before packing it back up and returning it.
If the keyboard, battery and performance are all sound, a new screen is usually the cheaper route. We will tell you honestly if the numbers do not stack up.
Pack it in a padded box or a proper laptop sleeve. Use a tracked service with at least £200 of cover, it is worth the extra pound or two. We test everything, pack carefully, and return it the same way.
It varies by make and model. A common HP or Dell 1080p panel tends to cost well under the price of a refurbished machine. We give you a fixed quote before we touch anything, so there are no surprises. Get in touch via the contact page, describe your laptop, and we will come back with a price.
Technically yes on some models, but HP laptops vary a lot internally. Screens are often held by adhesive or screws hidden under bezels that crack easily. If you damage the bezel or tear a flex cable during fitting, the repair bill climbs quickly. If you are not confident with teardowns, mailing it in is often the sensible call.
Once your laptop arrives with us, most screen replacements are completed within a few working days. Return postage adds a day or two on top depending on which carrier you use for the inbound leg.
Connect the laptop to an external monitor first. If the external picture is fine, the fault is almost certainly the screen or its cable. If the external is also blank, the graphics chip or motherboard needs attention, a different repair entirely. Let us know what you find and we can advise before you send anything.
