Apple’s answer to most MacBook faults is “replace the whole logic board” at £800+. We fix the actual component — charging IC, flex cable, backlight fuse — for a fraction of the cost.
Pentalobe drivers, tri-point bits, genuine-spec parts, microscope rework. No hacks, no Frankenstein parts.
Written quote before any chargeable work starts. If the repair genuinely isn’t economic, we’ll say so — no-fix-no-fee.
Typical cost for this repair is £60–£280. You get a firm written quote after free photo quote, and no chargeable work starts without your approval. No fix, no fee on every repair — you only pay for work actually done. See full pricing structure (labour tiers, parts at cost, assessment fees).
Turnaround is typically 5-10 working days from arrival at the workshop to return dispatch.
If your MacBook is a 2016–2019 Pro, or a 2018–2019 Air, it has the butterfly keyboard and this fault is extremely common. Apple’s free repair program ended in November 2024 — you’re on your own now, and Apple quotes £499+ for the fix. We fit replacement topcases for £180–£280 including parts and labour.
Often yes — but speed matters. The first 30 minutes after the spill are critical. Post it to us the same day if possible, within 48 hours at the outside. Ultrasonic motherboard cleaning recovers most plain-water spills; sugary / salty liquids are harder and sometimes require component replacement. Free photo quote either way.
Could be any of: charger, cable, USB-C port (often full of pocket lint), SMC state, worn battery, or a failed charging IC on the logic board. We diagnose all five in order. Often the fix is free (port clean, SMC reset); occasionally it’s a logic-board IC replacement at £120–£180, vs Apple’s £800+ logic-board swap.
Classic symptom of Flexgate on 2016–2018 MacBook Pros — the display flex cable is too short and wears through. Independent repair is £90–£140 vs Apple replacing the entire display assembly for £600+.
Yes. Liquid damage treatment is the same across all MacBook models — strip, ultrasonic clean, inspect, replace damaged components, reassemble, test.
Yes. The SSD stays inside the MacBook throughout the repair. We never wipe or image your drive unless you specifically ask us to. Even on dead logic boards, if the SSD is removable we can pull it and image your data.
Yes, 90 days on the specific work performed. If the repair fails in that window we put it right at no further labour charge.
