Why single-hose air con struggles

It depressurises the room

A single hose blows your cooled indoor air outside. That air has to be replaced, so warm outdoor air is pulled in through gaps around doors and windows. You are cooling air just to throw it away.

It works harder for less

Because warm air keeps leaking back in, the unit runs longer to hold the same temperature. On the hottest days, when you need it most, a single-hose unit can struggle to keep up.

Dual-hose fixes both

A second hose feeds the condenser with outdoor air instead of room air, so the room stays sealed and cools faster. It is the same principle used by higher-end portable units that ship dual-hose from the factory.

Meaco-specific dual-hose designs

These two community designs use CC-BY-NC licences. You review the original design and licence, appoint Hark Tech solely as your manufacturing agent, and confirm that the single copy is for your own personal use and will not be resold or used by a business.

Dual-hose conversion design for the Costco-exclusive Meaco A-COSTCO12K-PRO-CH

Costco A-COSTCO12K-PRO-CH

A two-part top and bottom intake adapter made specifically for the Costco-exclusive Meaco A-COSTCO12K-PRO-CH. It is not a general Meaco or Cirro part.

Development design. See the designer's source page below for images and fit notes.

Older MeacoCool MC series, WIP

The creator describes this condenser plenum as untested and modelled for an older MC-series intake filter with a 150 mm hose connector. Check its shape and measurements against your unit before ordering.

Current Cirro / MeacoCool Pro: neither design fits the A-MC16000-INVPRO-EU chassis, and we have not found a downloadable design for that casing.

Printed machine-end hose connector for a MeacoCool MC portable air conditioner

MeacoCool MC machine adaptor

The connector where the exhaust hose meets the unit, remodelled after the designer broke his own during a heatwave. Fit it with a hose clamp: the printed threads are approximate, which is exactly what the clamp is there for.

Approx. 240 g printed · from £16.50
Universal printed intake adapter used to convert a single-hose portable air conditioner to dual-hose

Universal dual-hose intake adapter

The cheapest way to add the second hose. It is not Meaco-specific, it adapts the intake side of most single-hose portable units, so check your intake before ordering. Small, quick to print and easy to post.

Approx. 77 g printed · from £6.90
Printed 150 mm intake funnel connecting an intake hose to a window cover

150 mm intake funnel

The bigger option for the window end, joining a 150 mm intake hose to a window cover or panel. Worth it if you want a tidy permanent setup rather than a hose hanging out of the sash.

Approx. 460 g printed · from £30.00

Connector sizes vary across the Meaco range. Measure the diameter where your hose screws into the machine before ordering, or send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will check it.

Choose the right material

PETG
Recommended

Our pick for the machine adaptor. It sits against the warm side of the unit, and PETG handles that far better than PLA for very little extra.

PLA
Budget option

Fine on the intake side, where nothing gets hot. We would not put it on the exhaust connector of a unit that runs hard all summer.

ASA
Best for full sun

The most heat and UV resistant option, printed on request. Pick this if the unit sits in a conservatory or strong direct sunlight.

How it works

  1. Check the fit. Measure the connector on your unit, or send us a photo and we will tell you whether the MC adaptor matches.
  2. Open the order page. We already hold the print-ready files, so there is nothing to upload.
  3. Pick material and colour. PETG for the machine end. The live price updates as you choose.
  4. Check out and we print it. Printed to order in our Basingstoke workshop and posted tracked, usually within a few working days.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Meaco-specific dual-hose conversion kit?

Yes, for two specific chassis. The Costco-exclusive A-COSTCO12K-PRO-CH design and an untested WIP design for older MeacoCool MC units are shared under CC-BY-NC. For personal, non-commercial use, you can review the creator’s licence and appoint Hark Tech to manufacture one physical copy for you. Neither is for the current Cirro A-MC16000-INVPRO-EU chassis.

Which Meaco models does the MC machine adaptor fit?

The designer made it for the MeacoCool MC series and notes it may suit other units with the same connector. Connector sizes vary across the range, so measure the diameter where your hose screws into the machine before ordering, or send us a photo and we will check it for you.

What does a dual-hose conversion actually do?

A single-hose portable air conditioner pulls air from inside the room to cool its condenser, then blows that air outside. That leaves the room at negative pressure, so warm unconditioned air is drawn back in through gaps around doors and windows. A second hose gives the condenser its own outdoor air supply, so the room stays sealed and cools faster. It is the same arrangement higher-end portable units ship with from the factory.

Do I need anything else?

For the MC machine adaptor you need a hose clamp to tighten it down, which the designer recommends because the printed threads are approximate. For a dual-hose conversion you also supply one standard portable-AC hose for the new intake, a cheap and widely available part. Message us before ordering if you are unsure which hose fits.

Which material should I choose?

PETG for anything that sits against the warm side of the unit, which includes the machine adaptor. It costs a little more than PLA and copes far better with heat. PLA is fine for the intake side in a shaded room. ASA is the most heat and UV resistant option if the unit sits in strong direct sun, and we quote that on the order page.

How does ordering work?

There is nothing to upload. Commercially licensed connectors and universal parts use the normal order page. For an eligible CC-BY-NC Meaco-specific design, open its original model and licence, appoint Hark Tech as your manufacturing agent and confirm that the one copy is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Tracked postage is calculated in the cart from packed size and weight, free on orders over £40.
