PS4 HDMI port repair: no signal, no display, sorted for £69 flat

Your PS4 still works. Your TV just can’t see it. A bent-pin HDMI port is the single most common PS4 fault we see, and it strands years of saves, screenshots and a whole digital library inside a perfectly good console. We fit a new port at board level, under the microscope, and post it back with everything exactly where you left it.

The symptoms

Sound like your PS4?

Six different complaints, one small connector at the back of the console to blame.

“No signal” on every input

The console beeps, spins up and settles, yet the TV reports no input whichever socket or cable you try. The port has lost contact with the cable’s pins.

White light, no display

Power light goes white as normal, so the console has booted, but the screen never wakes up. When everything else behaves, the video simply isn’t leaving the port.

Bent pins in the socket

The PS4’s port pins are thin and unforgiving. One cable forced in upside down or at an angle folds them flat, and re-bending them never holds. This is the classic PS4 fault.

Cable won’t stay put

The plug slides in with no click and creeps back out on its own. The port’s outer shell has spread, or its mounting legs have cracked free of the board.

Picture only at the right angle

Flickers, sparkles or drops to black unless the cable is propped just so. Intermittent contact through worn port pins, and it always deteriorates.

Broken tongue or debris inside

The centre tongue has snapped, or loose plastic rattles in the socket. Once the tongue goes, no cable on earth will save it: the port has to come off the board.

PlayStation 4 console
A dead port doesn’t mean a dead console. Behind the fault, the hardware usually has years of life left.
Circuit board under microscope magnification
Port legs are checked one by one under magnification; a joint that merely looks fine isn’t good enough.
Soldering iron working on a dark circuit board
Clean heat and clean pads: careful soldering is what keeps a board repairable next time too.
The maths

“Cheap secondhand” doesn’t mean not worth fixing

Used PS4s go for little money, but none of them come with your saves, your screenshots or your library already on board.

What a replacement console can’t replace

Every PS4 quietly carries years of progress: hundred-hour save files that never made it to cloud backup, screenshots and clips, a digital library of purchases, and a console set up exactly the way your household uses it. Sell it for parts and all of that either goes with it or takes days of downloads and sign-ins to rebuild, if it can be rebuilt at all.

At £69 flat, with return tracked postage included and a 12-month warranty on the repair, fixing the port costs less than the hassle of replacing the console, before you even count the money. It’s one of the most clear-cut repairs we offer.

  • Saves, screenshots and captures stay on the console
  • Digital purchases keep working, nothing to re-download
  • No factory reset, no sign-ins, no set-up from scratch
  • £69 all-in, 12-month warranty on the repair

Straight talk on seals and warranties. The repair means opening the console, which disturbs the warranty seal. Every PS4 is now well past Sony’s own warranty, so there’s nothing left to void; the seal is a formality at this point and we’d rather say so plainly.

If it isn’t the port. A console that pulses blue and never reaches the white light, or one with no picture and other odd behaviour, may have a board fault instead. We’ll tell you rather than fit a port it doesn’t need, and our £40 redeemable assessment is the honest route for those, with the fee credited against whatever the repair turns out to be.

What we cover

All three PS4 generations

Different boards, slightly different ports. We keep the right part for each on the shelf.

PS4 (original)

The 2013 launch console and its early revisions. Oldest ports, most bent pins, and by far the most common visitor to the bench for this job.

PS4 Slim

The slimmer 2016 model. A revised board layout but the same style of surface-mount port, and the same £69 flat price to put it right.

PS4 Pro

The 4K flagship. A Pro with a dead port is still a very capable console, which makes the £69 repair especially easy maths.

After a DIY attempt

Had a go with a heat gun or bought a port kit online? No judgement, it’s how most torn pads happen. Tell us in the booking notes and we’ll assess it honestly and quote before any work.

Other faults on the same console

Disc drive noises, overheating, random shutdowns? Mention them at booking, or start with the £40 redeemable assessment for a full diagnosis first.

Got a PS5 instead?

Same fault, newer console: our PS5 HDMI port repair covers the standard PS5, Slim, Pro and Digital Edition at £89 flat.

The work itself

What the £69 buys

The port is soldered to the motherboard by a row of tiny legs. Swapping it is microscope work, and this is what that involves.

Repair specificationHDMI
New portGenuine-spec part for your exact revision, seated square and anchored so it can take real-world cable strain
RemovalOld port taken off with controlled hot air, protecting the pads and the traces that run beneath them
Pad & trace checkThe site is inspected under magnification before the new port goes on; any tear-out is photographed and quoted first, typically £20
Surrounding jointsNeighbouring components cleaned, checked and reflowed if a joint looks tired, while the board is already out
TestingBooted to a bench TV, picture and sound verified, then the cable plugged, unplugged and wiggled deliberately to prove the fix
Your dataThe hard drive is never touched; saves, games, accounts and settings return exactly as sent

Return tracked postage is included in the £69. Flux residue is cleaned off before reassembly; before and after photos on request.

Questions

Common questions

How much does a PS4 HDMI port repair cost?

£69 flat for any model: the original PS4, PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro. The price includes a genuine-spec replacement port fitted by micro-soldering, cleanup and inspection of the joints around it, full bench testing and tracked return postage. A £15 deposit books the repair and the balance is paid on completion. If the solder pads underneath turn out to be torn, extra work is typically £20 and is always quoted before we do it.

My PS4 turns on but the TV says no signal. Is it the HDMI port?

Usually, yes. If the console starts normally, the light turns white and the fan settles, but every TV and cable you try reports no input, the port is the prime suspect. Shine a torch into the socket: flattened or twisted pins are easy to spot and are the classic PS4 failure. One caution: a console whose light pulses blue and never turns white has a different fault, and we’d point you at our board-level assessment instead of charging you for a port it doesn’t need.

Do you repair the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro too?

Yes. The £69 flat price covers the original PS4, the Slim and the Pro. The port itself differs slightly between revisions, so we stock the correct part for each and fit the one that matches your board.

Is a PS4 still worth repairing?

We think so, and not just because we fix them. Secondhand PS4s are cheap, but a replacement console doesn’t come with your save data, your screenshots or your digital library set up and ready. Years of progress that never made it to cloud saves lives on that one machine. £69 including return postage, with a 12-month warranty, is far less hassle than migrating everything to another console, if it can be migrated at all.

How long will you have my console?

2 to 3 working days on the bench. With tracked post both ways, allow about a week from posting it to having it back. The postal address is emailed as soon as you book.

Will I lose my saves, games or account?

No. The repair replaces a connector on the motherboard and never involves the hard drive. Saves, installed games, accounts and settings all come back exactly as you sent them. We don’t reset, reformat or sign in to anything.

What if the solder pads are torn under the old port?

It happens, most often after a fall onto the plugged-in cable or a previous DIY attempt. Rebuilding pads or running new traces is typically £20 on top of the £69. We photograph what we find and send you the quote before any chargeable work; if you’d rather not go ahead we post the console back and only the deposit is used.

How do I post a PS4 safely?

Take any disc out of the drive first, then box the console on its own: no controllers, cables or games. A sturdy box with a good layer of bubble wrap on all six sides is fine if the original packaging is long gone. Book, and the postal address arrives by email straight away; send it tracked from any Post Office.
