Why Hark Tech

Removes the common carbon-wear cause

Hall Effect modules sense position magnetically instead of using a carbon track. Springs, bearings, contamination and calibration can still cause centring faults.

Compatible Hall Effect or TMR modules

We confirm the applicable part category before fitting, then calibrate the controller and check its neutral reading on the bench.

Cheaper than a new controller

£55 for both sticks vs £65 for a brand new DualSense. Hall Effect modules remove the common carbon-track wear mechanism, although other mechanical and calibration faults can still occur.

What’s included

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Tell us which stick is drifting (left, right or both) and which controller (standard DualSense or Edge). We’ll send a packing checklist.
  2. Post in just the controller. No console needed — the controller goes in a padded envelope or small box.
  3. Pre-work check. We confirm the booked drift fault and scope. If we find a different fault, we photograph it and ask before any extra work.
  4. Hall Effect fit. The swap is a 30–45 minute bench job per stick. Desoldering, fitting, calibrating.
  5. Test and return. Bench-tested for dead-centre neutral and returned tracked.

Pricing

Typical cost: £39 per stick, or £55 for the pair. The compatible Hall Effect upgrade removes the common carbon-track wear mechanism. DualSense Edge is quoted after diagnosis.

You get a firm written quote after free photo quote, and no chargeable work starts without your approval. No fix, no fee on the work: if we can’t fix it you pay nothing beyond the £15 booking fee, which covers tracked UK return. See full pricing structure.

Turnaround is typically 3-5 working days from arrival at the workshop to return dispatch.

Frequently asked questions

What is DualSense stick drift?

Your character walks on its own, the camera pans, or aim drifts when you’re not touching the stick. It’s caused by carbon contact pads inside the analog stick wearing down — a known design weakness shared with Xbox and Switch controllers. Sony settled a US class action over it in 2024.

How does a Hall Effect stick reduce recurring drift?

Hall Effect sticks use magnetic sensing instead of a wearing carbon track, removing one common cause of drift. Springs, bearings, contamination, calibration and other controller faults can still affect centring.

How much does it cost?

£39 per stick fitted, or £55 for both sticks on the same controller. The compatible Hall Effect replacement removes the common carbon-track wear mechanism.

Will adaptive triggers and haptics still work?

Yes. The Hall Effect swap only touches the stick modules — adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, touchpad, motion sensors, mic and lightbar are untouched. Full DualSense functionality is preserved.

Do you work on DualSense Edge?

Yes. The fixed DualSense Edge drift service is £55 for one compatible Hall Effect stick. Mixed or uncertain controller faults use the separate £29 controller assessment.

Do you offer a warranty?

12 months on the work. Hall Effect sticks remove the common carbon-track wear mechanism, but other mechanical parts and calibration can still require attention.
